The "imperial stout" style of beer originated in eighteenth-century England as a concentrated, high-alcohol brew that would survive the long trip to the Imperial Russian court. Touching on this history, my homebrew label combines various styles - a bit of Art Noveau, a bit of the propaganda and nationalistic art of the early-to-mid twentieth century - with vivid, more contemporary coloring. I've heard that the woman's face looks like a photo but it's not - just hand-painted with a slightly fuzzy brush.
